The night was dark and silent, the only sound was that of the chirping crickets. A full moon was completely hidden by jealous clouds, rushing to hog the spotlight. Even so, it was a beautiful and relaxing night. That was why Hugo traveled to Naira Springs. It was a night for relaxation.
Yawning, a large bi-colored shepherd mix lowered himself slowly in the hot spring. The steam rising up from the water looked mysterious against the clouded skies. "Ahhhh. How nice.." A low, slightly rough, voice rang out as he closed his eyes. Soaking in the warm water he made more pleasurable sounds. "Mmmmm... Now this is the life." A smile crept across his face, he enjoyed it here this was one of the few places his master was actually nice to him.
Usually it made him sad to think about his master, he missed him so much. However, being able to relive the few happy memories he had with his master made him happier than he's been in a long time. He didn't care what anyone else thought, he was going to find his master if it was the last thing he'd do. "Master.. If you can hear me.. I promise I'll make you proud!" Opening his eyes slowly, he stared off into the steam reliving past events in his head.
ooc: ahh D: its short and icky XP sorry

Her masters had never taken her to this place, which didn't surprise her. They didn't like going out into the wilderness. Now that she was finally 'free' to do whatever she wanted, the springs were one of the first on her to-do list. Sure, she did not like the fact that her masters had vanished, but being able to do more than before was a plus in this situation.
The slim form of a purebred Saluki slipped through the trees, chocolate eyes glinting in what could be seen from the full moon. She actually liked the moonlight, for there was a certain beauty to it, even when the dark made everything a bit more frightening. The clouds covering the peaceful moon just angered her, but she didn't allow her anger to be shown.
Helene slowed her trot in order to pick her way across the darkness. She didn't want to trip over some rock or root that had conveniently placed itself before her. Long white ears perked at the sound of a conversation. Well, it wasn't a conversation, since it was only one voice, but someone was talking. The white Saluki drew closer to the hotsprings, using what little light the moon gave off to help her vision spot the owner of the voice. It didn't take her long to locate the owner of said voice, so she decided to add in her own. "You talk to youself a lot. Have you noticed that?" Well, the answer to the question was pretty obvious, but she couldn't think of anything else to say.
ooc: Don't worry. xD My muse died.

He had been foolish back then, carelessly allowing that larger pit bull to toss him about. It has been a year since his last fight, and his wounds have fully healed. Hugo was pretty lucky to have such long fur, it covered his battered and bruised body nicely.. it even made him appear to weigh more than he actually did. Sighing he closed his eyes for a brief moment, before being interrupted.
Tan ears pricked forward at the sound of another dog. Without thinking he curled back his lips and his fur raised, ears pressing flat against his skull. This was almost instinctive to him, this was how his master taught him to act towards other dogs.
Coming to his senses he noticed it was just a slim looking white female. Relaxing his body he thought back to what she had said to him, "You talk to yourself a lot. Have you noticed that?" Letting out a soft chuckle he nodded his head in agreement. "Perhaps, though I'm used to only having myself for company." A smile crept across his mug as he looked at the female. That statement was more than true... other than the dogs he was forced to fight, and his highly abusive master.. he was always alone. Within seconds all of the anger and tension left his body, leaving a sweet and relaxed dog in its place. He wasn't an angry dog, he didn't hate others. In fact he loved being around new dogs, even if he is wary at first. Yawning he closed his eyes again, trusting that the female would not do harm to him. "You should join me, the water feels nice." Opening one eye he looked at her with a slight smirk before speaking again, "Don't worry, I wont bite."

Helene had never known much about the dog fights and the cruelty of some masters, but what limited knowledge she had allowed her to somewhat easily spot those who have gone through it. She didn't show any fear. No, instead she just tilted her head to the side as if she were watching someone in confusion or in wonder. The Saluki let out a sigh, not realising she had been holding her breath. " Most should be use to being alone by now with the masters gone..." Without the masters, it was pretty lonely these days. Sure, there were all the other pets to converse with, but they didn't give the comfort and often times entertainment that most masters gave. Helene shifted on her paws, eyeing the steaming water. She had never been in warm water before. The water groomers and her masters used to bathe her was always either room temperature or cold. Oh, how she hated the cold. As if to prove her point, a rather cold gust of nighttime wind whipped through the Naira Springs. A violent tremble shook the white canine. What made it worse was her extremely thin coat. " You best not bite." Helene muttered, half to herself, as she slipped into the warm spring water. Ah, spring water felt good on summer nights. The Saluki made sure to keep in the area where she could touch the ground with her feet and keep her head above the water. She wasn't about to admit it to a complete stranger, but she didn't really know how to swim, even if it was supposed to come on instinct. She was a hunter and runner, not a swimmer.[/sup][/blockquote][/blockquote]

He kept that one brown eye open for a little while longer before closing it again. It was nice to be in the presence of another dog without fearing them. Actually, this was the first time he was able to relax in the presence of another. Perhaps the only reason he felt he could trust her was because this was the only place he could completely trust his master. But then again, she just didn't give off a threatening vibe.
At the sound of her voice he opened both eyes, watching her for a moment before shifting his gaze to the warm waters that surrounded him. His lips parted, but he couldn't find the words to express his feeling, instead of speaking he lapped up some of the water. He could feel it slide down his throat and hit his stomach, it felt nice, warming up his body even more. Raising his head, he stared at his reflection for a moment before commenting on what she had said. "I suppose so, what a shame." It was sad that many felt as though they needed their masters to be happy. He understood that feeling all to well. Even though his master had been a cruel one, he still felt lost without him.
A cold gust of wind blew past him, causing him to duck his head under the water for a brief moment. He only stayed under long enough to escape the winds. When he resurfaced he shook slightly, sending water drops flying off of him. Brown eyes locked onto her white form, watching as she stayed near the shoreline of the springs. "Nice isn't it?" His words were soft but still had a rough sound to them.

The crickets chirping, the crows... Crowing, the frogs croaking. When was the last time she really just sat back and enjoyed the nighttime symphony? Never? Correct. Her masters had always kept her inside during the night, and she now noticed that she missed out on a lot.
Her eye lids fluttered open as her gaze moved to the other canine. "It is quite nice... I've never actually felt my body relax this much before." Helene sighed deeply, swishing her tail in the water, causing it to ripple.
ooc: ... Yeah... My muse just died... =w=

He loved it here, it was the most peaceful place he knew. The sounds of the night's music helped further his relaxation. And then there was her, the female which granted him some much needed socialization. Softly smiling, he chuckled softly to her response. "Perhaps you should come here more often." it was nice to relax once in a while especially when times were so grim.
Images of his master once again danced across his mind, reminding him of the very few times in which they truely were 'best friends' The rare few times his master would throw the stick for him to catch instead of beating him with it for disobeying his orders. Or the times he would be allowed off his leash to relax in these very waters instead of being chained up to that tree outback starved for both food and affection. These were the times that strengthened his bond with his master, the times that gave him hope. They made him see the good hidden deep inside his master's heart.
That was the only thing that kept him wishing his master would return safely even though he was better off without his abuse. His smile grew stronger and his tail began to wag as he thought of their happy reunion. Perhaps after his master knew what he was missing, he'd be much nicer to his adoring pet Hugo.
Of course, that probably wouldn't happen. He chuckled softly to himself, his rough voice once again breaking the silence. "No, of course not."

Well, due to that dreaded wall, waiting. No matter what happened or how she had to act around certain pets, she would continue waiting, even if it lead her to death. The Saluki shifted on her paws, allowing the rocks, sand, and gravel at the bottom of the springs to move around.
Well, now they needed something to talk about. Sure, the silence of the night was calming, but she became bored pretty easily. "What was your Master like?" She asked, trying to start up some sort of conversation. She wasn't one to pry into personal lives, but it was the first thing that come to mind.

When he heard her question he frowned looking into the water, searching for his reflection. "He was... well." How could he answer this question without making his master seem like a complete monster?
Frowning he became frustrated, he couldn't find any lies which wouldn't actually be a lie. He sighed before telling her the truth about his master. "He was demanding and quick to punish any wrong doings." At least his answer didn't speak of the abuse he endured, simply that his master wanted things done correctly and asked a lot of him - all of which was true.
Looking towards the female, he smiled. "And yours?" He only asked because she asked him first. He hated getting into the issue of master, it was like politics. It was a touchy subject that could cause wars if the two didn't share the same opinion.
