Eight years have passed since Yusuke Urameshi first took on the task of being the spirit detective. Now twenty-two, Yusuke suffers from a recurring nightmare that he just can’t shake. This nightmare has him and his friends facing five black-robed demons. He can’t see their faces or their bodies but he can feel the evil within them. In every dream the apparent leader of the group lifts up his hands and the darkness creeps towards them. At this point in the dream he always wakes up in a cold sweat.
Is this a mere inconvenience? Perhaps these dreams are nothing more than a haunting of his past battles coming back to taunt him in his sleep? Or could there be a deeper meaning hidden behind the bizarre occurrences? Wise Master Genkai sends Yusuke to the home of another forum Spirit Detective. But what he doesn’t know is that someone knows the detective’s destination…and more about his past than he ever thought possible.
